The Nigerians In Diaspora Organization America, NIDOA Ohio Chapter has elected a new executive led by reelected President Sonje Calamese in a convivial voting atmosphere where virtually all the contestants were unanimously elected.
Other elected officers announced by the Chairman of the Election Committee Elder Tunde Aiyedero include Onyemobi Anyiwo, Vice President, Emmanuel Obazuaye, Secretary, Peter Egwudo, Treasurer, Babayemi Olanrewaju, Social Secretary, Capt. Francis Asapokhai, Public Relations Officer, Gordian Igwelo, Parliamentarian, and Dr. Ben Odita, Auditor.
Elder Tunde Aiyedero congratulated the new executive members and urged them to improve on the accomplishments of the past executive members.
The new executive members were sworn in by Barrister Taiwo Akinlami.
President Sonje Calamese thanked members for the confidence reposed in her by reelecting her for a second term.
Also, Dr. Ben Odita, who was reelected as Auditor, offered his continued support and service in any capacity to the association and the new members of the executive.
In response to the need for membership drive raised by Dr. Ben Odita, members appointed Public Relations Officer Capt. Francis Asapokhai to lead the efforts.
Members approved recognition awards to Sonje Calamese, Onyemobi Anyiwo, Dr. Ben Odita and Bukola Olaoye for their commitment, dedication and service to the association.
Established in 2000, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in the Americas is a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. that draws resources from the synergy of all Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora, to instill ethical consciousness and civic responsibility that will enhance the socio-economic advancement of Nigerians and humanity in general.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDOA), Ohio hosted the last Annual General Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, from October 24–26, 2025.
