MPI Gets a $2 Million, Two-Year Grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York
Carnegie Corporation of New York has awarded a two-year, $2 million grant to the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), continuing its decades-long support for one of the world’s premier nonpartisan think tanks working on international migration issues.
“We are deeply grateful for Carnegie Corporation of New York’s continued commitment to MPI, in particular as the institute embarks on its 25th anniversary,” said MPI President Andrew Selee.
“Throughout MPI’s history, Carnegie has supported essential work, including on U.S. and transatlantic policy analysis, convenings and the development of balanced, pragmatic policy solutions to make immigration work in the interests of all sectors of society.”
The grant will provide core support for several key areas of MPI work carried out through its U.S. Immigration Policy Program and its National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy.
These include development of bipartisan dialogue, understanding and approaches to immigration policy that serve the U.S. national interest, as well as state and local integration policy efforts focused on adult English acquisition, basic education, workforce systems and immigrant students in public schools.
The award also will strengthen MPI’s communications capacity and institutional infrastructure so the organization can more effectively elevate evidence-based immigration and immigrant integration solutions to diverse stakeholder and public audiences.
Carnegie Corporation of New York, which is one of America’s oldest grant-making foundations, was established by Andrew Carnegie in 1911 to promote the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding.
The foundation works to reduce political polarization through philanthropic support for the issues that Andrew Carnegie considered most important: education, democracy and peace.
