Celebrating 250 Years of Ohio: 1776 – 2026 A Community Conference of Reflection and Vision

By Irina Perry

In honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States and Ohio’s enduring place in the nation’s story, community leaders, residents, and advocates recently gathered for a meaningful conference celebrating history, service, and the shared future of Central Ohio. The event brought together civic voices and community partners in a spirit of unity, education, and remembrance.

Councilwoman Nancy Day-Achauer led the celebration, welcoming guests and highlighting the importance of recognizing Ohio’s journey from 1776 to 2026. Her remarks emphasized community engagement, civic pride, and the responsibility to preserve history while building opportunities for future generations.

The conference featured powerful reflections from distinguished speakers, including former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, whose presence underscored the city’s long tradition of leadership and public service. Representatives connected to the Columbus Metropolitan Library also shared insights on education, access to knowledge, and the role libraries play in strengthening communities across Ohio.
