- Assures of close monitoring
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has given approval to childcare providers to return to their normal, statutory ratios and class sizes effective August 9,, 2020.
“Even with increased classroom sizes, childcare providers will still have to comply with stringent health and safety requirements including face coverings for all staff, symptom and temperature checks, hand washing, frequent cleaning,” said Governor Mike DeWine.
“When childcare reopened, I vowed to monitor the data and make adjustments as needed. We will continue to closely monitor reports of COVID in childcare, as well as compliance with rules and best practices, and respond as needed to keep our children, families, and teachers safe.”
However, Governor DeWine said, “the number of confirmed COVID19 patients who are currently hospitalized in Ohio shows a consistent increase. As of today, we have 1,144 individuals who are currently hospitalized compared to 1,024 on July 15, 2020.”
“The good news is that we are starting to see a decrease in emergency department visits in recent days.”
On fairs and events, Governor DeWine announced a limit of all fairs to junior fair events only (livestock competitions and other 4-H and FFA competitions for kids and teens) starting on or after Friday, July 31.
“Harness racing can proceed with no spectators, but we are prohibiting rides, games, and grandstand events going forward so that we can keep the crowds down.”
