Joel Marcovitch

The Jewish community in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 announced the birth of Jewish Columbus as new organization created from the integration of the former Jewish Federation of Columbus (Federation) and the Columbus Jewish Foundation (Jewish Foundation).

The Board Chair, Robert H. Schottenstein, addressing a gathering of over 300 at  the Creekside Conference center, Gahanna, Ohio said, “Jewish Columbus represents a new way of thinking about Jewish philanthropy, supporting community needs, and how to engage the next generation of philanthropists and leaders.”

According to him, “we have the opportunity to be stronger together and make a lasting difference in strengthening the quality of Jewish life both here in Columbus and beyond.”

“Our relationship with the youths is very important in the community,” he said, adding that “we will be judged by what we do. We have a lot of work to do.”

Also the CEO of Jewish Columbus, Joel Marcovitch said “we launch our new direction by respecting our past and dreaming of our future.

“Each member of our community plays a crucial role in dreaming of a new Jewish Columbus. By being the central home for community building – and we hope your philanthropy – we can build a stronger community together,” he added.
