Columbus showed up and showed out for this year’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon! Organizers say more than 15,000 people came together to run and cheer on participants, representing 49 states and 15 countries.
Organizers estimated the marathon raised more than $1.5 million for Nationwide Children’s Hospital and expect a record-breaking fundraising year.
This year’s event honored 24 Nationwide Children’s Marathon Miles Champions. The Remembrance Mile honored children who have passed away, while the Encore Mile celebrated champions from previous marathon years.
Nick Doud won the men’s race in an unofficial 2:15:08, while Ashton Swinford took the women’s title in a preliminary time of 2:38:04 for the full Marathon. Matthew Davis, on the other hand, won the marathon wheelchair division in 2:28:16.
In the half marathon, James Quattlebaum ran 1:01:30, which broke the previous course record of 1:02:14 set in 2019. Colbi Borland, on the other hand, won the women’s race in 1:12:33, while Matthew Porterfield claimed the wheelchair title in 1:05:40.
Despite chilly morning temperatures in the mid-30s, the cold didn’t keep thousands from showing up for a meaningful cause. A whole lot of miles, heart, and community spirit—all for the kids!
