As the world recently marked the International Volunteer Day, Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services, ETSS brought the community together to celebrate the individuals who give their time, compassion, and commitment to support others.
The event highlighted the powerful role volunteers play in strengthening families, guiding youth, and providing comfort to seniors and newcomers who rely on ETSS programs.
Throughout the celebration, each volunteer was recognized for their unique contributions. Some have helped refugee families adjust to life in a new country; others have supported after-school programs, cultural events, or community outreach. While their roles may differ, their impact is shared: every volunteer has helped create a sense of belonging for those who need it most.
The ceremony was filled with gratitude and heartfelt appreciation. Many volunteers were moved as their names were called, reflecting the deep connection they have built with the ETSS community. The recognition served as a reminder that service does not require grand gestures— small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.
ETSS leadership expressed their sincere thanks, emphasizing that volunteers are the heart of the organization. Their dedication ensures that ETSS can continue offering vital support to immigrant and refugee communities across Central Ohio. One message stood out clearly: Ordinary people, when united by purpose, can create extraordinary change.
