Having started drawing at the age of five years, and now 41 years old with over 100 arts in his portfolio, Brandon Boggs recently got his first commissioned piece titled “Futuristic Golf Course Steampunk”. Every Monday, Brandon goes to Goodwill Columbus to fine tune his drawings and creativity.
“I felt 100% honored when I was asked to do my very first commissioned piece. I was stunned and felt like I could do anything. I just felt like I finally mattered in the society, and I loved every minute of it,” said Brandon Boggs.
“I want more commissioned pieces so I can show the art community what I can really do. Expressing my heart the way that I feel through my art is a way to share and tell people this is what I am, and this is who I am.”
Some other notable pieces by Brandon include Dew Dorf which is “a representation of a person that the community feels and finds, unfortunately different” and Santa Claus with a battle sword.
“Dew Dorf is a representation of a person that the community feels and finds, unfortunately different. But society looks at that person differently whether it is a handicap, mental health or both or just different,” said Brandon.

Then I drew Santa Claus with a battle sword because Santa Claus is me now. I used to be Dew Dorf when I was growing up. I got picked on, I got pushed around, I got neglected, just betrayed and stabbed in the back. It showed the effect outside on me. When you are around some people, they see you that way.”
“Don’t be afraid to be who you are. You should never be afraid to be who you are.”
Brandon went to an art festival “for the first time in my life last year and I actually loved it.”
