Bunmi Johnson wondered why nobody was at the car dealer place on Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio at 11am on a Monday morning. She walked towards the back of the office building where she could sight the car of her choice. Frimpong Moses, the dealer had told her that someone would be at the office at any time from 9am.
She tried the phone number the umpteenth time getting the same message of ‘this mailbox is full.”

Bunmi Johnson later learnt from Frimpong Moses that most independent car dealers have taken to a second or third job since majority of their customers, who mostly pay cash have been “afraid to come out”.
According to Moses, who does Uber when not at the car place, “car dealers in the neighborhood started experiencing low sales in January. We have to look for a second job to pay our bills.”
Another car dealer on east of Morse Road, Ifeanyi Lucky told the New Americans magazine that “we are experiencing low sales because we essentially serve the immigrant and refugee community. The community is going through difficult time this period.”
He said that the Ohio Independent Automobile Dealer Association has been educating members on ways to improve sales.
The Ohio Independent Automobile Dealer Association’s mission is to promote, educate, and advance the Independent Automobile Dealer in Ohio and surrounding States by offering educational opportunities to members that enhance and better their business and to lobby for legislation, regulations, and policies affecting our industry.
