In a significant step toward enhancing community representation, Dr. Dorothy Hassan, CEO of Our Helpers, has declared her candidacy for Hilliard City Council in the upcoming Democratic Primary.
In addition to having over a decade of experience in nonprofit management and community engagement, Dr. Hassan is passionate about advocating for transparent and accountable local government.
A devoted resident of Hilliard and mother of five, Dr. Hassan emphasizes the importance of community connection. “I believe in the power of community,” she stated. “I aim to ensure that every resident feels welcomed, heard, and represented. Together, we can build a Hilliard that reflects our city’s remarkable diversity.”
Our Helpers is a nonprofit organization that assists immigrants and refugees. Her doctorate in Higher Education Leadership strengthens her dedication to community-focused involvement, a value she has ardently championed during her professional journey.
Along with encouraging inclusivity, Dr. Hassan wants to advocate for enabling responsive local leadership and support policies that promote growth and community involvement. “Leadership must embody the perspectives of the community it represents,” she asserted.
Residents are encouraged to join her campaign by volunteering and sharing their ideas for Hilliard’s future.
