The No. 8 Ohio State women’s basketball team (22-4, 11-4 B1G) succumbed to Indiana (17-9, 9-6 B1G) with a final score of 71-61 on Thursday evening. They will face Purdue on Sunday.
The Hoosiers established an early lead, capitalizing on a 6-0 run in the first quarter to close the period at 26-17. Despite a resilient effort from the Buckeyes, who fought back to tie the game in the second quarter, they entered halftime trailing 40-28.
Ohio State made a valiant attempt to rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring Indiana 22-14, but fell short of a comeback victory. Cotie McMahon led the Buckeyes with 14 points, while Jaloni Cambridge added a game-high 18. Despite the loss, the team continued to force the opponent to turn the ball, showcasing their strength on defense, and in this game, they had 12 steals and forced 21 turnovers, marking their 19th game accomplishing such a feat.
This Sunday, Ohio State is set to face the Purdue Boilermakers in an important senior day game, looking to turn around their recent outcomes.
