Jim Tressel, former coach of Ohio State football team and former President of Youngstown State University was officially sworn in as Ohio’s 67th Lieutenant Governor in a ceremony in the Statehouse Rotunda.
Governor Mike DeWine acknowledged his former assistant, saying “for the past six years Ohio has been blessed with Lt Governor Jon Husted.

“Jim Tressel is the person I want beside me for the remainder of my tenure. I have been blessed as governor to have a great team. Jim Tressel will make me a better Governor,” said Governor DeWine.
In his remarks, Lt Governor Jim Tressel said “I’m humbled. I want to work with him and learn from him.”
Senate President Rob McColley congratulated Lt Governor Jim Tressel, describing him as one of Ohio successful sons.
” Jim is a servant leader. As Lt Governor of Ohio his passion will guide him to help lead our state,” said the wife, Ellen Tressel.
Lt. Governor Tressel graduated from Berea High School in suburban Cleveland, received a bachelor’s degree in education from Baldwin-Wallace College, and a master’s degree in education from the University of Akron.
An accomplished businesswoman and philanthropist, Second Lady Ellen Tressel is a graduate of YSU. She remains actively engaged in charitable causes and community organizations in cities where she and Jim have built careers and raised their family. The Tressels have four children – Zak, Carlee, Eric, and Whitney – who are all accomplished adults, and their grandchildren are their pride and joy.
