Reelected U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (D), representing 3rd District of Ohio has described the marginal difference between the Democrats (215) and the Republicans (217) of the incoming 119th Congress of United States as being good for democracy and will require the two sides to work together for the interest of the country.
“In few days it will be 215 Democrats to 217 Republicans. Thank you, America, because that is what democracy is about. It is about a split of 50/50 or almost, and requires working together,” said Congresswoman Joyce Beatty at her ceremonial swearing in into the 119th Congress of United States at the Statehouse, Columbus, Ohio.
“We will need strong negotiators; we will need people who are strong to stand up for what is right for our democracy, for our country and for our citizens. We have to be united. We have to understand how we have to work together.
“I have no fear of negotiating. You can’t negotiate in fear. I am your negotiator. I have no fear of telling the truth.”
Congresswoman Joyce Beatty who expressed appreciation for her reelection thanked voters “for standing with me. You are the core of my success. I stand with you, not above you, not in front of you but I stand with you in the center.”
“It is so important that we work together, whether we are in the majority or whether we are in the minority. I cannot be in this fight without you.
“Thank you for your support and thank you for voting for me. Leading is telling the truth. I have always stood by my word, and you have stood with me, whether you agreed or not. I will always be with you and that is what it means to be a leader.”
“I have brought more than $50 billion single handedly back to this community to Columbus, Bexley, Reynoldsburg, COTA, Ohio State University, Wexner, Ohio Health, Intel and many more.”
She assured that “the best is yet to come. We have to make sure that we put our best foot forward. We have to make sure we are never afraid when we are in a fight because the fight is not us, the fight is about the community. The fight is making sure we have public education, that we have quality and affordable housing.
“I am coming out strong in January of 2025 with the new piece of legislation that is the Housing Affordability Act. It is about housing, education and healthcare.”
