The East Tigers boys’ basketball team kicked off their season in style, dominating the Marion-Franklin Red Devils 89-41 in a non-league matchup on Monday.
Now, the Tigers hope to continue that dominant fire against Linden-McKinley Panthers (0-1) in a Columbus City-North contest after an impressive season-opener.
Junior point guard Daeshawn Fiore led the charge for the Tigers, scoring 24 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and shooting 38% from the field. He was part of a united team, with three other teammates who scored in double figures, showcasing the team’s depth and scoring prowess.
The Tigers are determined to turn things around after finishing last season with a 7-10 record and a 4-10 mark in Columbus City-North conference play.
Linden-McKinley and Northland dominated the conference last season, finishing with 13-1 records each.
