Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has certified the official results of the 2024 General Election, marking the completion of the statewide canvass by Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections and formally affirming the winners.

“There’s a broad consensus among Ohio’s bipartisan election officials that this has likely been the smoothest presidential election in the history of our state,” said Secretary LaRose.

“More people are paying attention to the process of administering elections, and that scrutiny helps drive both readiness and accountability. I can’t say enough great things about the dedication of our frontline election staff and their volunteers who make everything look so easy. Elections require an incredible amount of careful preparation, training and logistics, and this year we saw that come together to great effect.”

The more than 5.8 million ballots cast produced the state’s second highest voter turnout on record – just under the 2020 general election. In total, Ohio’s final voter participation rate for 2024 stands at 71.7 percent, with 5,851,387 out of 8,159,946 registered voters casting ballots statewide. Ohio broke the previous record for in-person early voting, demonstrating the high level of confidence Ohioans have in the convenient and flexible voting options offered leading up to Election Day.

“Many states look to Ohio to see how it’s done,” said Secretary LaRose.

“We delivered on our promise to report 100 percent of the unofficial results on election night, while others took days or weeks to do that. We’re truly the gold standard of election administration, and I’m so grateful to the people who worked tirelessly to make it happen.”

The final certified results include all late-arriving absentee ballots postmarked by November 4, as well as all eligible provisional ballots cured no later than four days after Election Day.

In the coming weeks, county boards of elections will finalize their post-election audits, reconcile any discrepancies between the paper and electronic tabulations, and report findings to the Ohio Secretary of State’s office. Once all 88 counties have completed their audits, Secretary LaRose will release the final audit results.
