The city of Columbus came alive with exuberance at the 4th Annual Excellence Black Tie Gala, a dazzling celebration held at the iconic Center of Science and Industry (COSI). This year’s event was a breathtaking fusion of art, fashion, music, and dance, transforming the expansive 320,000-square-foot museum into an electric spectacle. Guests were treated to a feast of culinary delights, exhilarating performances, and stunning fashion showcases that lit up the night.
Among the illustrious attendees were vibrant members of the New Americans community, including the inspiring Haitian American leader Sophia Pierrelus, multimedia entrepreneur Francois Smith, and the dynamic Liberian American figure Danlette Grace Washington. Their participation highlighted the rich diversity of the evening, beautifully mirroring the vibrant tapestry of the Black community. With over 4,000 guests buzzing with excitement, the gala fostered a powerful sense of unity, pride, and cultural celebration.
Spectacular Highlights of the Evening- Culinary Delights Galore
Guests indulged in a mouthwatering feast from over 15 of the most celebrated chefs, caterers, and vendors, showcasing the vibrant and diverse culinary landscape of Columbus.

The night came alive with electrifying performances! Top-tier musicians, DJs, and comedians, including the hilarious Joe Torry, lit up the stage while four dynamic bands and five fabulous DJs kept the energy soaring until the early hours.
Cultural Showcase Like No Other
Attendees were treated to a breathtaking Excellence Fashion Show, an intriguing author spotlight, stunning artist displays, and engaging interactive exhibits, all celebrating the richness and creativity of the Black community.
Red Carpet Glamour
Dressed to the nines, guests strutted down the glitzy red carpet, capturing unforgettable moments in a 360 photo booth highlighting the evening’s glamour.
Distinguished Guest of Honor
Newly re-elected Congresswoman Joyce Beatty turned heads with her stunning black dress, embodying the essence of Black excellence. Her presence was nothing short of inspirational, adding an incredible flair to the night.
Weekend-Long Celebration
The Excellence Black Tie Gala Weekend kicked off with a bang on Friday at First Fridays: Sneakers and Blazers at The Forum, featuring R&B superstar Case! The Saturday gala was just the beginning, followed by an after-party at The Bluestone that kept the celebration rocking until dawn! What an absolutely unforgettable evening!
