Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has assured Ohioans that the counting of votes of the Tuesday, November 5, 2024 General Elections will start 7.30pm when voting ends, with the early votes and absentee ballots.
“We expect a high voter’s turnout at the polls on Tuesday. Already, 2.5million early votes and absentee ballots have been recorded,” Secretary Frank LaRose said at a pre-Election Day press conference on Monday, November 4, 2024 to provide a final update before voters head to the polls for Tuesday’s high-profile general election.
“This represents well over 30 percent of the registered voters. Early voting was a big success across our urban counties, rural counties and suburban counties. Ohioans took advantage of these great two options of early voting and absenting voting. They trust that it is a trustworthy and honest process.”
On ensuring that every eligible voter is allowed to vote, Secretary LaRose said, “Ohio law is that we should make sure that American election is only for American citizens, and that is common sense. For those that recently naturalized and have an identity cards that still read noncitizen on it, we’ve gone a great length to send them a letter and to remind them that they should update their driver’s license. If they haven’t updated their driver’s license, we have in place a safeguard where they can bring their naturalization document to prove their citizenship status. If they forget to do that then we will offer them a provisional ballot to make sure their voices are heard.”
“Voting starts at 6.30am on Tuesday morning and closes at 7.30pm. We encourage Ohioans to go to voteohio.gov make sure they got their right polling location and to make sure they know what kind of identity card to bring.”
