The Somali American Political Action Committee, SAPAC and the Ohio Somali TV will host a first political debate at 5869 Sandalwood Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, October 26, 2024, beginning from 7pm to 9pm.

Focusing on local and national issues on the ballot, the debate will witness Democratic and Republican representatives within Ohio’s Somali community squaring it up with one another to win over voters for both sides.

The participants include Kawther Musa, Farxaan Jayte, Abdirzak Diini, all who have previously ran for offices, and Hussein Jabiri, who is currently running.

The debate will cover this year’s ballot issues, with both parties advocating for their stances.

“This forum provides an opportunity for new American and Muslim communities to hear both Democratic and Republican viewpoints, fostering informed voting and civic engagement across diverse communities,” said Kawther Musa.

The debate will be moderated by Deeqo Shire of the Ohio Somali TV.
