The Power Parenting Company LLC will host a two-day virtual event of the 6th edition of Women Working With Children Conference in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2024 on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 2024.
“This global event has attracted thousands of participants and hosted distinguished women who have been both inspirational and accomplished in their respective fields,” said Mr. Taiwo Akinlami and Mrs. Olufunmilayo Akinlami, the co-conveners of the Women Working with Children Conference, which began in 2019.
The conference was created as a haven where these remarkable women can be refreshed and empowered, recognizing their significant roles in the lives of our precious children as both primary and secondary parents. Our extensive work with children over the past three decades, spanning Africa and North America, has highlighted the vital importance of these roles.
Each edition of the conference has centered around its core mission: supporting women as they continue to lead efforts in Family Strengthening, Securing a Friendly and Protective Environment for Children®, and promoting Rights-Based Parenting. The themes in every session have consistently reflected this objective, emphasizing the crucial impact of women’s leadership in shaping a better future for children.
This year’s conference will focus on the theme: “S.A.F.E for Children® According to Play & Recreation: Empowering Women’s Leadership to Foster Resilient Children Through Play and Recreation, Shaping a Brighter Tomorrow.” The conference recognizes that play is not merely a form of recreation but a fundamental right and developmental necessity for children.
By empowering women, the event aims to harness their unique influence in nurturing and advocating for children’s needs, exploring how equipping women with leadership skills and resources can amplify efforts to foster resilient, empowered children. These children will be better prepared to navigate future challenges through play and recreation.
Given the current economic and social tensions, particularly in Africa, and the overwhelming dominance of digital devices across the globe, which often leaves our precious children confined behind screens, we believe this is the ideal moment to emphasize the importance of play, especially outdoor engagement.
The conference will be moderated by Mrs. Ayo Ayeni, Founder of Haven Advocacy, a Child Safeguarding and Protection Advocate, and a member of the Taiwo Akinlami Academy Faculty.
