The 2024 Professional Women’s Bowling Association, PWBA season ended with the international players dominating the tour. Six of the top ten points leaders in the 2024 PWBA season were international players.
The PWBA has long had a strong international showing, and this year is no different. Cherie Tan from Singapore, Verity Crawley from Britain, New Hui Fen from Singapore, and Dasha Kovalova from Ukraine who has become an American Citizen, are the other international players who were in the top ten point leaders. In the earnings category, Diana Zavjalova from Riga, Latvia, joined the above-named women.
Mylasioan Li Jane averaged 213.48 for the year while winning four titles and earning $154,570.00. In accomplishing that, she won the U.S. Women’s Open and PWBA Tour Championship, both major titles. Her regular titles were the PWBA Bowlers Journal Rockford Open and the PWBA Greater Nashville Classic. Sin finished the year with a total of 11 cashes.
It is hard to make it in the professional bowling world. The payouts aren’t that big. The expenses of the tour are huge due to travel, lodging, tournament fees, food, and all of it. To do it by being completely self-funded is a huge undertaking and is what Li Jane did. It is something to be admired and celebrated for sure. She did it on her own. It is stories like hers that help me to keep trying to reach the bowling goals I have.
One of the strongest and most popular women on the PWBA tour is Poland’s Daria Pajak. Daria has the strongest ball on the PWBA tour, which goes along with her classic style. She travels all around the world as an ambassador for the sport.
Daria just returned from a tour of the Asian countries that included Thailand, and Korea. The fans of those countries loved and welcomed her with open arms.
The women’s tour has always been interesting to watch. The women are more relatable, and their game is fundamentally sound. An average bowler can understand and relate to the problems they have on the lanes. The international player also demonstrates how universal the game is. It is enjoyed worldwide by not only the best in the world but also the amateurs and regular folks who just want to have some fun.
That is bowling in general, though. It is for everyone, from the very young to the very old. No matter the nationality, race, sex, or age. We all can enjoy the game. The success of the international women on the tour demonstrates just that.
