The United States men’s basketball team made history, securing their fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal and 17th overall, with a thrilling 98-87 victory over France while staying unbeaten throughout their triumph at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
While playing in his first Olympics, Steph Curry stole the show with a dazzling performance, scoring 24 points and sinking eight three-pointers to lead the USA to victory. Despite a valiant effort from the French team, fueled by their home crowd and led by Victor Wembanyama’s 26 points and seven rebounds and Guerschon Yabusele’s 20 points, Curry’s incredible shooting and the USA’s dominance proved too much for the hosts.
Kevin Durant, a key player for the USA, won his fourth Olympic gold medal, cementing his legacy in the sport. The win marks the USA’s fifth straight gold in men’s basketball, dating back to 2008. Lebron James, a three-time gold medalist, was named the Paris Olympics men’s basketball team MVP.
The game was intense, with France keeping it close until the final minutes. However, Curry’s clutch shooting and the USA’s depth proved decisive, securing their position as the best in men’s basketball.
In a joyous post-game celebration, Curry high-fived his teammates, basking in the glory of their hard-won gold medal.
Earlier in the day, Serbia secured the bronze medal with a 93-83 victory over world champions Germany. Nikola Jokic made history by getting a triple-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists – the fifth Olympic triple-double ever recorded.
The USA’s victory marks the end of an exciting Olympic tournament, with the team’s triumph a testament to their skill and dedication.
