Eight projects received the Columbus City Council grants to beautify the city in the third round of 614 Beautiful Program Grant.
The 614 Beautiful Program is a partnership between Councilmember Lourdes Barroso de Padilla, the Department of Neighborhoods, and the Neighborhood Design Center to activate creativity, dialogue, and neighborhoods through public art and innovative placemaking efforts.
The eight winning projects in the City of Columbus were awarded up to $15,000 for community volunteer organizations to facilitate implementation.
“I am thrilled to announce the latest round of 614 Beautiful Awardees! We’ve already seen the incredible impact of the first and second rounds of 614 Beautiful projects in neighborhoods across our City,” says Councilmember Lourdes Barroso de Padilla.
“These eight projects will not only enhance our neighborhoods but also empower our residents to build a sense of pride in the place they live.”
The grant recipients for the third round of 614 Beautiful include:
- Community Happens Here – Mural ReMix
- Franklin Park Urban Ecology Art Initiative – 83 Gallery
- Franklinton Cycle Works – Pavement for People – Franklinton Cycle Works
- GGC Garden Beautification Project – Growing and Growth Collective
- Linden Fresh Market “Refresh” – Community of Caring Development Foundation
- The Garden Reading Pavilion – Fostering in the Community
- The South Side Family Farm Stand Landscape Design Project – Jazzy Greens
- U.S. 40 Overpass Mural – Hilltop Arts Collective
Over the three cycles of applications, 614 Beautiful has granted $206,975 to projects throughout 15 diverse neighborhoods like Northland, Linden, and Clintonville. Types of awarded projects range from public art like murals and banners, to pocket parks and landscape improvements.
The total investment from all three rounds includes 25 projects selected with nearly $302,000 in grants awarded, of which Art projects were installed in11 neighborhoods, over 90 community partners and about 1,000 hours of community time invested.
