The devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl has brought up a collaborative effort between private and public agencies to provide vital support to all affected regions, with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) providing critical emergency aid, including search and rescue operations while suspending immigration enforcement activities in protected areas like shelters and food distribution sites.
As Hurricane Beryl sweeps through the Houston, Texas area, it brings with it powerful and destructive winds that have caused numerous trees to fall. It is important to remain cautious of potential hazards such as fallen trees and power lines while navigating the affected areas.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues its unwavering commitment to working with federal, state, local, and non-governmental partners to assist families, regardless of immigration status, ensuring no one is left behind.
According to the national weather service, Hurricane Beryl is currently impacting the following regions: Barbados, Windward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Yucatán Peninsula, and Central United States.
And per the US National Weather Service, Hurricane Beryl has caused extensive flooding in and around Houston. If necessary, please remember to steer clear of flooded roads, even if there are no warning signs – it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), a global humanitarian organization, also has personnel responding to Hurricane Beryl. They are doing so by supporting its local Red Cross teams in the Caribbean and affected areas in the United States, enabling them to deliver life-saving assistance and relief supplies to those affected by the disaster.
Red Cross is also helping deploy community-based disaster response teams and provides shelter and relief items to needy individuals, further complementing the response efforts.
