With 60 countries expected to be represented at the July 4th Parade, the Northland Area, Columbus, Ohio will celebrate 60th Anniversary of the Parade along Karl Road, with the procession traveling north on Karl Road beginning from the Morse Road intersection at 10am.
The Northland Area 60th Anniversary of July 4th Parade aims to recognize the vast population diversity within Columbus, with an inclusive goal to have 60 countries represented, according to Northland Community Council, a coalition of civic associations, home-owners associations and other community groups in the Northland area of Columbus, Ohio.
“To bring more community members to the largest social event of the year within the Northland area, our goal is to have 10,000 spectators.”
Countries expected to be represented at the 60th Parade Anniversary include Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Austria, Bhutan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada, China, Congo, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, and France.
Others include Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Nicaragua, North Korea, North Macedonia, Oman, Paraguay, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, Sweden, Switzerland, Togo, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Venezuela, Wales.
Every parade, residents of the Northland Area take their seats along Karl Road to cheer up participants, including serving government officials, politicians, businesses, floats, celebrities, religious and social groups.
“Traditionally, the 60th anniversary is the diamond anniversary. This annual parade that started in 1962, sadly, had to miss a couple of years due to COVID. This means the 2024 parade is the 60th parade and we’re making this our diamond parade.”
The Northland Community Council represents over 130,000 area residents (25-square miles of the City of Columbus) and works with Columbus City Council, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and a wide array of other city, county, state and non-profit organizations to continuously enhance the prosperity and quality of life enjoyed throughout the Northland community.
