It was a night of thrills, music, dance, electric and learning at the first annual Haitian Cultural Soiree on Saturday, June 29, 2024 with international artist Emeline Michel preforming to the delight of everyone in attendance.
Faveur & Company, led by Sophia Pierrelus and her team, put together the First Annual Haitian Cultural Soiree at the Cardinal Ballroom in Lincoln Theatre to celebrate Haitian culture and history while providing essential resources to Haitians living in Columbus, Ohio.
The evening was a resounding success, attracting Ohio dignitaries, well-wishers, and attendees from diverse backgrounds, including Africans, Americans, and Haitians residing in Ohio.
The soirée also served as an educational platform to teach attendees about Haitian culture and to celebrate authentic Haitian food and music.
The highlight of the night was an amazing live performance by international artist Emeline Michel, whose captivating and enthusiastic performance brought the audience to their feet and onto the dance floor.
Meanwhile, Sophia Pierrelus, the program organizer, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in and contributed to the event’s success.
“We wanted to create an event that not only celebrates Haitian culture but also addresses the challenges faced by our community here in Ohio, especially those who do not have refugee status and struggle to access resources and funding,” Pierrelus stated.
In conclusion, Pierrelus awarded several guests and partners who significantly contributed to the program’s success.
Honorees included Mr. Deba Uwadaie, publisher of the New Americans Magazine; Mr. Okon Ekpenyong, reporter for the New Americans Magazine; and Mr. Ernest Kanjo, founder of Apex 1 Radio Columbus.
The event was not only a cultural celebration, but also a fundraiser to support the Haitian community in Columbus. Pierrelus expressed hope for even greater success in the coming years, aiming to build on the momentum and enthusiasm generated by this inaugural event.
The First Annual Haitian Cultural Soiree has set a high standard for future events, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and strengthening a sense of community and support among attendees.
