The Somali Cultural Festival will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 3000 Innis Rd from 3-8 pm at Innis Park. It’s a celebration and an educational opportunity to learn about Somalia’s rich traditions and customs. This event helps celebrate Somali Independence Day on July 1 and brings the community together.
This festival also serves as a platform to support the local Somali community and promote cultural exchange and understanding. So come out and join the festivities, meet new people, and gain a deeper appreciation for the Somali culture.
Co-founder of the event, Mohamed Ali, expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office towards the Somali Cultural Festival. The sheriff’s office has consistently been involved in the event, significantly contributing to its success. This year, their involvement has been incredibly beneficial as they have hired a Somali community liaison, strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and the Somali community. This festival celebrates Somali culture and heritage and brings necessary resources closer to the community.
“Within this community, Mohamed Ali is highly respected for his unwavering integrity. As an Ohio State graduate and former candidate for the Columbus School Board, he has combined education, cultural learning, and faith to co-create the Somalia Cultural Festival. His hard work and dedication have truly made a positive impact.”
