- Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther re-elected for 3rd term
Despite Ohioans voting “Yes” on Issue 1 the Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) has warned that other legislative paths will be explored “to continue to protect innocent life.”
“The legislature has multiple paths that we will explore to continue to protect innocent life. This is not the end of the conversation,” said Speaker Jason Stephens in a statement on the election results for Issue 1.
“As a 100% pro-life conservative, I remain steadfastly committed to protecting life, and that commitment is unwavering.”
Ohio voted on two statewide issues which are proposed constitutional amendment entitled “The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety” (Issue 1) and a proposed law entitled “An Act to Control and Regulate Adult Use Cannabis,” (Issue 2) in the November 7, 2023 general elections in accordance with Ohio law.
Also, on the passage of Issue 2, House Speaker Jason Stephen’s said “With the passage of Issue 2, now is the time for the legislature to lead on how best to allocate tax revenues while responsibly regulating the industry.
“Investing in county jail construction and funding law enforcement training across Ohio should be our top priority to make our communities safer.”

In the City of Columbus elections, Mayor Andrew Ginther was re-elected for a third term. Also, all the City Council members that ran for election were re-elected, including the President of the Council Shannon Hardin , Councilmembers Emmanuel Remy and Nick Bankston.

While reacting to his re-election, Mayor Ginther said “I am honored and humbled to be re-elected to serve a third term as mayor of the city where I was raised. Together, we will continue to make Columbus neighborhoods safe, afforda and equitable for years to come.”
