A town hall meeting tagged Immigrants Make Columbus will hold on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Karl Road branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library from 5pm to 7.30pm.
The town hall meeting is part of an ongoing and final focus group research survey by the Columbus City, in collaboration with the The Ohio State University for the immigrant community members to share their experiences and ideas on belonging in Columbus through a survey and focus group discussion.
“Share your experiences and ideas on your sense of belonging in Columbus through a survey and a focus group discussion,” said the survey coordinators Dr. Njeri Kagotho and Dr. Arati Maleku of the College of Social Work at OSU.
Dr. Njeri Kagotho told New Americans magazine that, “I am very excited about this opportunity! I look forward to hosting a space where our communities can voice their experiences and pass along recommendations to the City of Columbus and appreciate the beautiful space that is the Columbus Metropolitan Library—Karl Road.”
The Karl Road branch library manager Keith Hanson said that “through these conversations they hope to come up with recommendations to the city solutions for challenges raised by participants and ways to help make Columbus more inclusive and welcoming.”
Also, participants at the town hall meeting will be provided a $35 gift card, while additional information can be found at https://www.immigrantsmakecolumbus.com/.
