Nigeria Ambassador to Greece, H.E. Opunimi Akinkugbe has met with H.E. Niki Kerameus, Minister of Education and Religious Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Marousi, Athens, Greece to explore possible ways to secure admissions for displaced Nigerian students in Ukraine.

“The meeting explored possible ways to secure admissions for displaced Nigerian students in Ukraine, procure student scholarships, develop vocational training programs, and initiate educational exchanges between Nigeria and Greece”, according to a LinkedIn handle of Ambassador Opunimi Akinkugbe.

Hundreds of Nigerian students schooling in Ukraine have been displaced following the Russian-Ukrainian war. Most of the students were undergoing courses in medicine, agriculture, engineering, sciences and social sciences.

Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameus, at the meeting, spoke about the very impressive Skills Labs, an innovative school module, which advances soft and digital skills, as well as fundamental life skills (related to health, safety, and social interactions).

Particular emphasis is laid on the 4 Cs skills:

• Communication,
• Collaboration,
• Critical thinking and
• Creativity- along with digital skills.

Ambassador Akinkugbe was accompanied by Mr. Felix Logo (Head, Consular & Education) and Ms. Zerah Waminaje (Second Secretary) to the meeting.
