Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has assured the rolling out of protocol to reopening restaurants this week as distribution, construction and manufacturing businesses open Monday, May 4.
“Our restaurant group has been working very hard, and they are nearly finished with their plan. Within the next several days we’ll be rolling out the protocol for reopening restaurants. We’ll also be able to announce a reopening date,” said Governor Mike DeWine.
Governor Mike DeWine has set up an advisory group comprising the state’s legislative leaders to identify people who work in the sectors such as barbershops and restaurants to come up with ideas to guide them as they reopen to public.
“The goal of this group then is to develop recommendations for their businesses that balance the need to protect the health of employees and customers as they reopen to the public.” Said Governor Mike DeWine.
On reopening the retail businesses, Governor DeWine said, “As we approach the ‘ResponsibleRestartOhio’ opening for retail on May 12 – we remind you that retail can right now do curbside or by appointment service. This won’t work for all businesses, but if it works for your retail company you can do this today”.
“We don’t want to dramatically swing the wrong way. Ohio’s future remains in Ohioans’ hands. I didn’t accomplish this. You accomplished this. If each of us continues to do our part, all of us are protected. InThisTogetherOhio.”
Regarding demonstrations in Ohio:, Governor DeWine noted that “ I respect the First Amendment. I am fair game. But it is not fair game to be disrespectful or obnoxious to the news media. To treat them with disrespect and to not practice social distancing with them, I find that very sad.”
“In addition, I’m the elected official who ran for office. I’m the one who makes policy decisions. Members of my cabinet work hard, but I set the policy. When you don’t like the policy, again – you can demonstrate against me – that’s fair game.”
“But to bother the family of Dr. Acton, that’s not fair game. It’s not right. It’s not necessary. The buck stops here. I’m the responsible person.”
