The JewishColumbus Community raised over $439,000 Community Response Fund to meet the pressing needs of the community’s most vulnerable in response to the coronavirus public health crisis

A statement by Joel Marcovitch, CEO, JewishColumbus said, “the  JewishColumbus Community Response Fund received a seed grant of $50,000 from the Robert Shamansky Social Justice Fund of the Columbus Jewish Foundation. The Wexner family responded immediately with a contribution of $250,000.”

“We fully support JewishColumbus’ effort and encourage each member of the community to contribute as able. We are living in uncertain times and one thing we can be certain about is that we need one another more than ever before.” Leslie and Abigail Wexner said

JewishColumbus also received an incredibly generous gift of $100,000 gift from the Saul Schottenstein Foundation A.

“Saul Schottenstein would never have hesitated to help others if these conditions ever existed in his lifetime. Community was always important to my Uncle Saul, so I make this donation from the Saul Schottenstein Foundation A to help those in need in his blessed memory,” said Susie Diamond.

JewishColumbus Joel Marcovitch said, “this is the first round of what we anticipate will be several rounds of emergency response funding. The Fund’s current focus is food insecurity; however, as the situation evolves, the focus could shift as we learn more from our partner agency leaders on the ground. We have a long road ahead of us.”
