The Hispanic Legislative Visit Day will hold on Wednesday, April 11 at the State House, Columbus, Ohio.
Resource persons at the 2018 event include Arturo Vargas and Antoinette Wilson.
Arturo Vargas is a nationally recognized expert in Latino demographic trends, electoral participation, voting rights, the Census, and redistricting Mr. Vargas is the Executive Director of NALEO Educational Fund, a national nonprofit organization that strengthens American democracy by promoting the full participation of Latinos in civic life. He also serves as the Executive Director of NALEO, a national membership organization of Latino policymakers and their supporters.
Antoinette Wilson is President and co-founder of Triumph Communications, Inc., a strategic communications firm offering services in the areas of Public Affairs, Coalition Building, Political Campaigns and Media Buying.
Ms. Wilson’s career spans twenty-five years at the local, state and national levels, and she has served as a consultant or campaign manager for over 100 campaigns. She was also appointed Ohio’s first female Assistant Secretary of State.
The Ohio Hispanic Legislative Visit Day is a major part of the Commission’s strategy in expanding the participation of our constituents and expanding their ability to make well-informed decisions in regards to civic engagement. Nonprofit leaders, community advocates, and Hispanic business leaders come together for a day filled with meetings with Ohio legislators, and practical instruction on state government and the means to access it. There is also an opportunity during the lunch hour for exhibitors, legislators, community leaders, and constituents to network and establish constructive connections across the state of Ohio. OCHLA’s Legislative Visit Day typically takes place at the Ohio Statehouse and Hispanic media outlets from all over the state cover the event each year.
